Silently Health

User documentation

What is Silently Health?

Silently Health is a Confluence Cloud app that automatically monitors your spaces for stale and outdated pages, calculates a health score per space, and notifies page owners via @mention comments — with no manual intervention required.

Installation

Install Silently Health from the Atlassian Marketplace. Once installed on your Confluence site, the app runs automatically. The first health check is scheduled for that night — no configuration needed to get started.

How it works

  1. Automatic scan — Silently Health checks every page in every monitored space and classifies it as Healthy, Warning, Stale, Critical, or Orphan based on days since last edit.
  2. Health scores — each space gets a score from 0 to 100 (% of healthy pages), with a trend indicator showing improvement or decline since the last check.
  3. Owner notifications — stale and critical pages receive an @mention footer comment alerting the last editor. A 7-day cooldown prevents repeated alerts on the same page.

Page statuses

Status Default threshold Meaning
Healthy < 90 days Up to date
Warning 90+ days Getting old
Stale 180+ days Needs attention
Critical 365+ days Severely outdated
Orphan Any Owner account is inactive

Thresholds are configurable per space via the Settings panel.

Key features

Dashboard

View health scores for all your spaces in one place. Filter, sort by score or name, and drill into any space for details.

Page certification

Mark a page as "certified current" without editing it — resets the staleness clock. Useful for pages that are correct but rarely modified (policies, references, etc.).

Bulk archive

Select multiple critical pages and archive them in two clicks directly from the dashboard.

Smart label exclusions

Pages tagged with evergreen, archived, or legacy Confluence labels are automatically handled:

Global settings

Configure check frequency (daily, weekly, monthly), default thresholds, and notification preferences across all spaces at once.

Configuration

Check frequency

Go to the dashboard → ⚙ Global settings → choose Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.

Staleness thresholds

Configurable globally (Global settings) or per space (⚙ Settings on each space row). Required order: Warning < Stale < Critical.

Notifications

Toggle notifications on/off globally or per space. Use "Re-notify now" to reset cooldowns and trigger immediate notifications on the next check.

Language support

Silently Health is fully localized in English, French, German, and Spanish. The language is detected automatically from your Confluence locale settings.
